Mr. Richard Como
Community updates from the Superintendent The Coatesville Area School District has experienced a smooth transition into the 2011-2012 school year. Many exciting initiatives are taking place in our district. Renovations are nearing completion at the high school campus with only a few finishing touches remaining. Currently, plans are underway for the construction of two new school buildings. School administrators, faculty, and staff have been in-serviced and are implementing innovative programs that employ best-practice methods in their daily instruction. Students are provided the opportunity to receive a multi-faceted education including instruction both during the traditional school day and within the available after school programs, extra-curricular clubs and organizations, as well as through participation in athletics.

Coatesville Area School District Named to AP® 2nd Annual Achievement List by the College Board for Significant Gains in Advanced Placement® Access and Student Performance
367 US Public School Districts Across the Nation Are Honored Coatesville, PA — Coatesville Area School District is one of 34 school districts in Pennsylvania and fewer than 400 school districts in the nation being honored by the College Board with a place on its AP® 2nd Annual Achievement List for opening AP classroom doors to a significantly broader pool of students, while maintaining or improving the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher. “The AP Honor Roll designation – for the second year in a row - is just one example of how the school district is continually ‘raising the bar’ in regard to academic achievement,” said Richard Como, Superintendent of Schools. “I am extremely proud of the effort put forth and the success achieved by all of our students.” The AP Achievement List is made up of all school districts that are simultaneously expanding opportunity and improving performance. "The AP Honor Roll districts are defying expectations by expanding access while enabling their students to maintain or improve their AP Exam scores," said College Board President Gaston Caperton in a released statement. The complete AP Achievement List can be found at www.collegeboard.org.
