Why is Coatesville Area School District launching a Cyber Learning Academy?

Answer: Not all students excel in the traditional school and classroom setting; therefore, the Coatesville Area School District provides the Cyber Learning Academy for those students who receive the greatest educational experience in a cyber instructional program. Our Cyber Learning Academy is an extension of the Coatesville Area School District that provides an online education for students in a cyber-friendly format.


Who is eligible to participate in the Coatesville Cyber Learning Academy?

Answer:  Students in grades 7 - 12, who reside within the Coatesville Area School District and who are currently enrolled in a cyber charter academy are eligible. 

Who will be administering the Cyber Learning Academy Courses?

Answer:  The Coatesville Area School District will administer the Cyber Learning Academy as another program offered by the District to the students who reside within the boundaries of the District.

What curriculum is used in the Coatesville Cyber Learning Academy?

Answer: Like the educational program of the Coatesville School District's traditional brick-and -mortar system, the learning environment of the Cyber Learning Academy is based on the Pennsylvania Academic Standards. This standards-aligned curriculum emphasizes the students' demonstration of mastering specific skills by engaging in an academic program that emphasizes proficiency in all curricular activities, whether the academics are acquired through distance or local learning. Who will be the teachers in the Cyber Learning Academy?

Answer: Students will receive supervised instruction from highly qualified and experienced teachers employed by the Coatesville Area School District.

Do the CASD cyber students have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities?

Answer: Yes.  Students in Coatesville’s Cyber Learning Academy have the same opportunities as the students who attend our brick-and-mortar schools to participate in the array of activities district including sports, band, and choral groups.

Do the CASD cyber students have the opportunity to use the same services provided to students in a brick-and-mortar school?

Answer: Yes.  Students in Coatesville’s Cyber Learning Academy have the same opportunities as the students who attend our brick-and-mortar schools to use the services of Guidance Counselors for college and career exploration and counseling.

 What services can my child receive from the Coatesville’s Cyber Learning Academy that they do not currently receive?

Answer: Cyber students can receive tutoring services provided by highly qualified Coatesville High School teachers during regularly scheduled afternoon sessions on the High School Campus.

Does the Coatesville Cyber Learning Academy provide services for students with special needs?

Answer: Yes. Students with special needs will be provided with services as designated in their IEP’s.

What kind of a diploma will cyber students receive?

Answer: Cyber students will receive a Coatesville Area School District diploma once they have completed the courses and received the credits required for the diploma.

Is there a cost to attend the Cyber Academy?

Answer:  No.  The Coatesville Cyber Learning Academy is a public school under the direction of the Coatesville School Board.
